    KiwiSaver continues to grow - FMA continues to push providers on customer engagement

    The FMA’s annual KiwiSaver report based on returns as at 31 March 2017 shows total assets were up $7 billion from $33.8 billion in 2016. Investment returns of $2.7 billion were more than double those of 2016, and are close to the previous record $3 billion, reported in 2015.

    Momentum builds in KiwiSaver as scheme reaches $81 billion

    The Financial Markets Authority (FMA) – Te Mana Tātai Hokohoko – has released its KiwiSaver Annual Report based on providers’ statistics for the year ended March 2021, which shows total funds under management reached $81.6 billion, or double the $40.8 billion held in 2017.

    We believe the entity is operating a scam. We have received a report about this entity advertising on Facebook by using likely false celebrity endorsements. Their website claims to be a Contract-for-Differences (CFDs*) provider trading in stocks, currencies, cryptocurrency, commodities, and indices. However, they are not registered and/or licensed to provide financial services/products in New Zealand.

    Warning regarding unregistered business offering fake pre-IPO shares

    WARNING: The FMA is concerned that Enbridge International Consulting Limited (Enbridge) may be operating a scam via enbridgeconsulting.com (the website). We have received a report from a New Zealand resident about being cold called by Enbridge offering pre-IPO (Initial Public Offering) shares and unable to recover money paid to them.

    KiwiSaver holds firm through volatility and reaches $94BN in March 2023

    The FMA’s latest KiwiSaver Annual report for the year to 31 March shows that KiwiSaver has held firm through a continuing period of market volatility. Total funds in KiwiSaver have grown again this year, by $4 billion, due to contributions of $10.5bn from members, employers, and government.

    Using behavioural insights to improve KiwiSaver outcomes

    The New Zealand Government has a high-level policy intent to encourage long-term savings in order to increase wellbeing and financial independence. To contribute toward this we are running a series of trials to test whether insights from behavioural economics can improve decision-making and outcomes for KiwiSaver members. This report provides results from our second trial with ANZ.
