    CapitalvestPRO and its website, have the hallmarks of a scam. CapitalvestPRO advertises it is located in New Zealand and is registered in New Zealand; however, it does not appear to be registered by the New Zealand Companies Office and the stated address does not exist.

    Investing New Zealand - Comparison site harvesting investor details

    We are concerned that Investing New Zealand may be operating a scam. It operates a website claiming to compare term deposit rates which states it offers “deposit protection up to $100,000 NZD per investment”, however no such scheme is currently offered in New Zealand.

The way that financial products are made available to the public has been overhauled under the FMC Act. The first New Zealand financial products to be offered under the new regulations have started to appear on the ‘Disclose’ website this month.

    We believe the entity is operating a scam. We have received a report about this entity advertising on Facebook by using likely false celebrity endorsements. Their website claims to be a Contract-for-Differences (CFDs*) provider trading in stocks, currencies, cryptocurrency, commodities, and indices.     Warning regarding unregistered business offering fake pre-IPO shares

    WARNING: The FMA is concerned that Enbridge International Consulting Limited (Enbridge) may be operating a scam via enbridgeconsulting.com (the website). We have received a report from a New Zealand resident about being cold called by Enbridge offering pre-IPO (Initial Public Offering) shares and unable to recover money paid to them.

    FMA accuses CEO of market manipulation for anonymous posts on investor forum

    The Financial Markets Authority (FMA) - Te Mana Tātai Hokohoko – has filed civil High Court proceedings against Matthew Geoffrey Hill, the Chief Executive Officer of NZX-listed New Talisman Gold Mines Limited (NTL), for alleged information-based market manipulation and making false and misleading representations. The case relates to anonymous posts Mr Hill made about the company on the Sharetrader website’s online investor forum.

    Consultation on 2021 Financial Markets Authority funding and levy review

    Since establishment in 2011, the FMA’s role and our responsibilities and statutory functions have increased significantly. MBIE and the Financial Markets Authority (FMA) are consulting on proposed changes to the FMA’s funding and the FMA levy. The funding review has been subject to a Deloitte independent assessment and Deloitte’s findings are published alongside the consultation materials on the MBIE website.

    Climate Reporting Entities (CREs)

    The New Zealand government has introduced a new regime making climate-related disclosures mandatory for some organisations. Organisations covered (known as Climate Related Entities or CREs) will have to make annual disclosures covering governance arrangements, risk management, strategies and metrics and targets for mitigating and adapting to climate change impacts. The requirement applies to the larger publicly listed companies, big insurers, banks, non-bank deposit takers and investment managers. Read more on the FMA website.
