    Financial Markets Conduct (Takeovers Panel) Exemption Notice 2020

    The notice exempts the Takeovers Panel (the Panel) from the substantial holding disclosure provisions of the Financial Markets Conduct Act 2013 (the FMC Act) in respect of any relevant interest in quoted voting products of a listed issuer that the Panel has, as the result of an enforceable undertaking.

    Updated: FMA further extends deadline for financial reporting

    The Financial Markets Authority (FMA) is providing regulatory relief to market participants to give them an additional two months to provide their audited financial statements. Due to the disruption caused by COVID-19, the FMA is taking appropriate steps to support the industry. Firms that need to provide these financial statements include listed issuers on the NZX.

    The FMA has completed a review of corporate governance disclosures by 45 companies, listed and unlisted. Good corporate governance is one of the FMA’s strategic priorities because it is an important contributor to transparency and efficiency in capital markets. In 2014 the FMA published a Corporate Governance Handbook comprising nine corporate governance principles.

    NZX Derivatives Market Rules - Approval of Rule Changes 2018

    This notice approves changes to the Derivates Rules that were provided to the FMA by NZX for approval on 13 Nov 2018. The changes approved are: necessary amendments to ensure consistency with the listing rules and the Captial Adequcy rules have been amended to include "Fund" as well as Debt and Equity Securities.

    COVID 19 KiwiSaver significant financial hardship applications alternative verification

    A person applying for a significant hardship withdrawal can complete a statutory declaration via an audiovisual link with an authorised witness (such as a lawyer). However, given the COVID-19 Alert Level 3 and 4 restrictions, the FMA considers supervisors can, at their discretion, accept applications that take alternative steps to verify an applicant’s identity and financial circumstances.
