    KiwiSaver continues to grow - FMA continues to push providers on customer engagement

    The FMA’s annual KiwiSaver report based on returns as at 31 March 2017 shows total assets were up $7 billion from $33.8 billion in 2016. Investment returns of $2.7 billion were more than double those of 2016, and are close to the previous record $3 billion, reported in 2015.

    FMA publishes derivatives issuer Sector Risk Assessment

    A report identifying key risks in the Derivatives Issuer (DI) sector and highlighted future focus areas to improve sector compliance. Firms issuing derivatives to retail customers in New Zealand must be licensed by the FMA. The sector has approximately 23,000 accounts operated by retail customers.

    AML/CFT - New regulation for nominee directors and nominee general partners

    Reporting entities will be expected to comply with the new regulation as soon as possible from 9 July 2021. However, in recognition that reporting entities will need to amend their processes and procedures (and potentially systems), a transitional compliance period will apply until 29 April 2022.
