Update

19 December 2014

The FMA has published a revised version of the handbook: Corporate Governance in New Zealand – Principles and Guidelines.

We received 28 written submissions from a variety of market participants which have now been considered and integrated into the revised version where appropriate.

The handbook is intended as a reference guide for directors, executives and advisers, to help them decide how best to apply the nine key corporate governance principles.

Governance and culture has been identified as one of our strategic priorities that will guide our work over the coming three years. Our future work on this area may result in a new version of this handbook being released, or separate, more targeted corporate governance guidance being produced.

We are happy to engage directly with submitters or other interested parties on any aspects of the principles as we carry out further work in this area in 2015.
