Governance structure

The Financial Markets Authority (FMA) is an independent Crown entity with a mandate to promote and facilitate the development of fair, efficient and transparent financial markets.

As a Crown entity we prepare a statement of intent that set out our goals and funding. The scope of this document is agreed on with our responsible minister. We then report on our achievement of our stated goals in our annual report to Parliament. The document and our financial statements are audited by the controller and auditor-general.
